Rita Ortiz Brunet

Rita Ortiz Brunet, famed author of children's books, requested a special trip to Disney to get more ideas for her next story. This one will have a Pirates of the Caribbean theme but without skulls and crossbones. Her son Edgar, part-time blog writer for orlandoescape.com. served as a tour guide. We visited the Pirates of the Caribbean ride with new features that include appearance by Jack Sparrow, the main character of the latest Disney trilogy of the same. She stocked up on some pirates paraphernalia that she will use for the presentation of her book.

We also waited at least 45 minutes to see the updated Haunted mansion which, although pretty much the same ride, was retouched nicely. We had dinner at the Magic Kingdom's Tony's, an Italian theme restaurant at the entrance of Magic Kingdom, and shared a seafood pasta dish and an antipasto appetizer. Like everything nowadays at Disney, it was a little pricey but enjoyable nevertheless.

We discovered that in the castle they now have a boutique for young girls to be made up as princesses with makeup, glitter, sashes, and even costumes. Although my girls have outgrown the Princess stage, we saw some cute little girls all dressed up as princesses and proud of their of their appearance; very innovative on Disney's part. Service is still top notch at the park.

The park was crowded but I have seen worse. However, it provided a nice preview that his summer at Disney will be hot, and busy. I'll return in the fall after the peak season.

About Rita, at 71 she is still as active and energetic as ever. She is an active spelunker, camper, scuba diver, hiker, world traveler, and author of 11 children's books. She is featured frequently on Puerto Rican media outlets including TV and local newspapers and travels to many schools on the island. She has even been a special guest at the governor's mansion, La Fortaleza.
