The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is the much-anticipated grand opening at Universal Studios, which is slated for June 18, 2010. The commercials for this attraction are already airing in the Orlando market, promising a whirlwind tour through Harry's Alma Mater Hogwarts.
Another new attraction that's scheduled for this year is the Omaka Rocka ride at SeaWorld's water park, Aquatica. There hasn't been as much fuss about this new attraction (especially in light of the recent tragedy at SeaWorld involving the death of a killer whale trainer) but expect to see some excitement when the weather warms up.
Meanwhile at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom, the theme park's Fantasyland is undergoing a major renovation, taking most of Mickey's Toontown with it and adding a lot more opportunities to see the Disney Princesses. Also at Magic Kingdom, the iconic Space Mountain has a new look after undergoing some major updates in 2009.
What used to be Pleasure Island at Downtown Disney still being transformed into a more family-friendly area. The Virgin Megastore shut down last year and the popular McDonald's (located between the T- Rex restaurant and Lego store) is in the process of being converted into a Latin American fast food chain, Pollo Campero.
Some of the other changed at the Orlando theme parks might be less obvious, but there is always something new to look forward to on your next trip to Orlando.
