Can a Canadian rental car be taken into the USA?
For example, can you go Toronto to Boston then North and return via Quebec?
There is no legal issue with a Canadian rental car being driven across the US border, as long as you have the proper paperwork to show at the border.
What you will want to make sure is that the car rental company itself, allows their vehicles to be taken out of province/country.
Make sure to check (if they do allow it) for any changes to your rate that may occur if taking the rental car into the United States will affect your allowed mileage. Many Canadian car rental companies will only allow unlimited kilometres within a certain province or area.
Your best bet is to let the car rental company know about your travel plans, and check to see if those plans will affect your rental or your rental rate.
