Dumfries and Galloway is a corner of Scotland that deserves exploring. Wonderful beaches, fishing villages, lochs and the largest forest park in the United Kingdom make this an area that is ideal for a Scottish holiday.
Port Logan is the home of the probably Scotland's most exotic garden. Right at the south western tip of Scotland the area enjoys the very warmest climate the gulf stream can offer Scotland. This makes it an ideal spot for southern hemisphere plants - eucalyptus, stand alongside tree ferns and daisies and salvias you would never normally expect to see this far north. Real highlights are the water garden and the walled garden. The second of these protects the tender fuchsias and Eucryphia from South America and Australasia while the garden's marvellous collection of New Zealand Hebes make Logan a genuine surprise and well worth a visit.

No trip to the south west of Scotland is really complete until you visited the Mull of Gallloway lighthouse. This is the southernmost light house in Scotland and was built by Robert Stevenson in 1830 and stands some 99metres high on the cliff edge. You can climb the 114 steps and enjoy the view.
