Natural waterfalls can be relished at Rock garden and Ganga Maya Park. There are also boating facilities here. You can enjoy the beautiful surroundings while boating. You can visit the Japanese Peace Pagoda situated on the slopes of Jalapahar hill. It was established by a Japanese Buddhist order. Pagoda is the highest free structure in town and also showcases four avatars of Buddha.
In Lloyd Botanical Garden many rare species of flora are on exhibit. Another place to visit is Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park. It is considered one of the better zoos in India. It is the only center that breeds Tibetan wolf in captivity. Breeding programmes for endangered species like red panda, snow leopard and Siberian tiger are carried out here. Another prominent institution is Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. Many mountaineering courses are conducted here.
