This period saw an industrial development in Spain, with the emergence of cotton industry, followed by the development of corn, wine and iron industries. This was the time when Romantic European movement saved the region from destruction and helped in the development of language and traditions in the region. This particular period also saw a sharp increase in the population of Cataluna within decades, because of the industrialization and development.
The region was still going through many political crises and during 1937, these crisis led to the street crimes and fighting for 3 days and more than fifteen hundred people died during these days. During 1939, Franco's forces occupied the Catalans state and thousands of people migrated to other countries, rather than obeying Franco.
