You have two simple options when it comes to planning your honeymoon in the winter, you can choose to run for the sun and head to somewhere tropical or you can be bold and embrace the cold?
The British winter is the ideal time to escape for a romantic honeymoon with your loved one, and with so many long haul destinations at their prime, January could easily be the best time to find some top honeymoon packages. The start of the English winter can be an expensive time to travel with it being so close to Christmas and especially at New Year, but January is a great time to of year to get away, especially during the end of the month when the prices drop.
Most couples tend to opt for the classic beach retreat to destinations such as the Caribbean, Mauritius and the Maldives. The Caribbean rewards couples with golden sandy beaches, turquoise seas, a chilled out and relaxed atmosphere and ethos and some unique island personalities, whereas the Maldives offers incredible opportunities for diving and is an excellent place for both novice and expert divers. The Maldives has several alternate diving spots which range in both difficulty and depth. The Maldives is also an excellent place to indulge in luxury, with some of the world's most spectacular luxury resorts, with exquisite accommodation such as over water bungalows, villas on the beach which are just a stone's throw away from the Indian Ocean at your door step.
Then of course, you could choose a more active and action packed honeymoon destination and consider a trip to South Africa. January is an excellent time to visit South Africa as the weather is excellent, it is the height of the South African summer which means it is very warm during the afternoon but temperatures in the morning and evening are much cooler. A popular destination in South Africa for the intrepid couple is the Kruger National Park. The Kruger National Park is the country's largest safari park, boasting an unrivalled amount of diverse wildlife, mammals and bird species. One thing that will soon become apparent once you have set foot in South Africa is the sheer amount of things to do; you will soon understand why the country is known as a country in one nation.
Finally, you could choose an Asian country; they are often on most peoples top honeymoon packages list with a visit to Thailand being at the forefront of their top honeymoon packages list. The great thing about destinations such as Thailand, Laos and Vietnam is that you get to combine stunning scenery, rich culture, and amazing food and chilled out beaches.
There are so many incredible January honeymoon destinations to choose from, I chose to focus on tropical destinations in this article because being from England and not having much of a 'summer' I would recommend spending the winter in a warm tropical paradise.
