Although there is no specific date yet, Universal Studios Florida is planning to debut its newest roller coaster, the Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit, in “late spring/early summer,” according to a recent report in the Orlando Sentinel.Universal’s Web site is promising “The groundbreaking combination of audio and special effects engineering, sophisticated on- and off-board video and one-of-a-kind personalization will take you on a roller coaster experience unlike any other.” The ride will reach top speeds of 65 mph, tower 17 stories over the Universal Studios park, and include a record-breaking loop. This will be one of Orlando’s more intense roller coasters, with a height minimum requirement of 51 inches.
In addition to some never-before seen maneuvers-- the cars' ascent will be at a 90-degree angle at 11 feet per second, followed by a plunge at 65 mph—individual riders will select from five genres of music --rap/hip hop, country, classic rock/metal, pop/disco and club/electronica --to play during the Rip, Ride and Rockit experience. After the ride, riders will be able to purchase a video of their experiences.
