Best Time to Book a Rental Car
We are planning a trip to Orlando. Would you please advise us when is the best time to book a compact car at the lowest price?
I believe that doing some research and booking in advance will give you the best possible car rental rate. Generally, the best prices are found when booking 4-6 weeks in advance of your rental.
While last minute car rental specials are advertised, they are not something that you can really count on. Booking your car rental in advance is the best way to try and get the best car rental price.
What I suggest is that you try both options.
First, do a lot of comparison shopping, well in advance of your rental dates. When you find the best available rate for the compact car at your airport location... book it. Unless the rental has a no show policy or cancellation policy, you can cancel at any time with no penalty. If it is a deal that you must prepay, book it if you really like it and make sure to read all the terms and conditions around modifications or cancellations.
Once you've got a compact car booked, continue to search regularly (once or twice a week) to see if better rates become available, and check car rental company websites for "last minute car rental deals" up until the time of your rental. If you find something better, then you can rebook it (if it's with the same company) or book it and cancel your original (if with a different company).
