Coasts in Costa Rica

There are two major coasts in the Costa Rica, one is the Caribbean coast and the other one is the Pacific coast. You will find that both the coasts have a particular time frame during which they are the best for surfing. These two time frames overlap from December to March. So if you plan your trip carefully, you can actually surf on both the coasts. However, most of the experts are of the opinion that you should keep one coast in mind, set up your lodgings in a beach town and then explore that coast in order to find the best breaks.

Surfing on the Pacific coast

The north Pacific coast will provide you with varied and consistent breaks. There is the option of choosing between beach breaks along the coast or take in the reefs. Many surfers prefer to stay in Tamarindo when surfing on the north coast. When it comes to the southern Pacific coast, Dominical gets most of the action.? There are lots of big swells in the beaches of this area and that attracts experienced surfers. This region sees more serious surfers compared to the north.

The Caribbean coast

The main attraction as far as surfing goes on the Caribbean coast is Puerto Viejo. You will find surfing at these beaches is a lot more relaxed and less commercialized. Those who like surfing Costa Rica know that Puerto Viejo has the biggest break in Costa Rica which is called the Salsa Brava. You can also find some reef breaks near by. If you go south of the town you will find lodges where most of the experienced surfers prefer to stay. Other wise, accommodation is there in Puerto Viejo as well.

If you visit CR you will have all you want, among the extra thing that you will be contributing to the conservation and the eco-tourism.
