Forget Oktoberfest it is time for Opa Fest
Taverna Opa Celebrates Second Anniversary from October 19 to 25 With Weeklong Specials, Street Fair & Greek Getaway Giveaway-
International Drive will transform into old-world Greece this October when Taverna Opa, located in Pointe Orlando, kicks off its second anniversary celebration with Opa! Fest ‘09.
Beginning October 19, guests will delight their taste buds with a different Greek special each night, leading up to a free Greek Street Fair on Sunday, October 25, complete with live Greek music, food sampling, belly dancing and giveaways—including the “Greek Getaway Giveaway!”—all-inclusive Greek cruise for two.
Guests will receive a “Ticket to Greece” voucher for every entrée they purchase during Opa! Fest ‘09. Then, they must bring that voucher with them to the Greek Street Fair on October 25, where they will be entered to win the Greek Getaway Giveaway. With no purchase necessary, guests can also enter once by emailing their name, address, phone number and date of birth to opafest@opaorlando.com. The winner will be announced during the Greek Street Fair and must be present to win.
Also during the Greek Street Fair, guests will have the chance to participate in Taverna Opa’s attempt to beat the current world record for the largest Zorba dance—the traditional Greek line dance—in the world. According to Guinness World Records, the most to ever participant in a Zorba dance was 1,672 people.
“Opa! Fest is a chance to thank the community for their continued support of our restaurant,” said Katerina Coumbaros, co-owner of Taverna Opa. “We have excellent specials planned for this event, and as always, we promise to provide a lively and fun atmosphere for our guests.”
The complete list of events for Opa! Fest ‘09 include:
Monday, Oct. 19—Receive a free appetizer sampler with purchase of an entrée.
Tuesday, Oct. 20—Receive 2-for-1 drinks all day with purchase of an entrée.
Wednesday, Oct. 21—Receive a free bottle of wine with purchase of two or more entrées.
Thursday, Oct. 22—Mediterranean Tour Night — Enjoy a fixed menu with choice of appetizer, entrée and dessert for $25 per person.
Friday, Oct. 23—Family Night — Bring the family and enjoy the Zeus Menu at the price of the Aphrodite Menu; Half-priced Sangria & Mojito pitchers all night.
Saturday, Oct. 24—V.I.G (Very Important Greek) Night, including:
From 6 to 8:30 p.m., enjoy the Aphrodite Menu for $25 per person with the option to add beer and wine for an additional $15.
From 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., enjoy the Aphrodite Menu and an open premium bar for two hours for $50 per person.
Sunday, Oct. 25 —Greek Street Fair Day: From noon to 5 p.m., sample authentic Greek food while enjoying live Greek music and dancing, including the World’s Largest Zorba Dance and Greek Getaway Giveaway winner announcement!
