Better Price on One Way Car Rental
I need to rent a car for a one way trip from Chicago, Illinois to Tampa, Florida. I found on many rent a car sites that the prices are too expensive... why is this?
Are there any tips for me to get a good price on one way car rental?
One way car rentals are generally more expensive, because, in each city or general area, the cars are "owned" by that particular rental car vendor. If you take a car from company a in Chicago and drop it off in Tampa, the Chicago rental company will not let the car sit on the lot in Florida, waiting for someone who wants to pick up a car in Miami and drop it off in Chicago. They will usually send an employee down to pick up the car and bring it back... the higher one way rates are calculated to cover this expense.
Basically, the biggest tip to getting a cheaper one way rate is to keep the car as few a number of days as possible. Pick it up in Chicago and drop it off in Miami, as quickly as possible. If you still need a rental car while you're in Florida... rent a separate one.. it'll be cheaper.
