Economical Car Rental
I want to go on a trip this summer, but the price of my plane tickets will be too high for my budget. I'm considering a rental car instead, and I was wondering if renting a car would be a more economical solution?
Also, do rental car companies charge a lot for miles? Ive never rented a car before. Thanks!
With many car rental companies you're able to get unlimited mileage on regular size cars; you may run into mileage restrictions if you're looking at renting a minivan or SUV.
The easiest way to find out if a car rental is more economical than plane tickets is to do some comparison shopping. Check several car rental companies for the cities, dates, times and car size that you're looking for. Try using a discount code, if you qualify. When checking the price on your car, make sure to look at the total cost, including all taxes and surcharges and including any extras you may want to purchase, such as LDW or CDW, a car seat, gps, etc.
You will also want to factor in the cost of gas for your trip (you get the car full of fuel and must return it full) and also the cost of meals (if you stop while on the road) to truly see if the car rental is more economical than plane tickets!
