Car Rental Reservation Tips
Posted on Friday, July 17, 2009 by car rental deals orlando international airport
I have been doing a little research and have found that it is cheaper to book a rental car through a booking site than directly from the rental car agency. I'm curious to know if it's better to book my rental car pretty far in advance, or should I wait until a few weeks before my trip to see if the rates will be even lower?
My advice is to book your car rental as far in advance as you can, but to also keep checking rates periodically to see if you can find anything cheaper. If you find something less expensive, then you could book the new rate and cancel your old reservation. This would only be beneficial to you if you were booking a non-prepaid reservation. (If you do prepaid, like with priceline, you should probably book in advance as well, but keep in mind that those types of reservations cannot be modified, cancelled and there a no refunds, if you happen to have to change your flight or not be able to go on your trip at all.)
One other trick you might check, is to find the cheapest car rental company through one of those types of booking sites and then try going to that company's website directly and checking a rate with a discount code, if you qualify. There are hundreds of membership programs and professional associations that offer Car Rental Discount Codes to their members. You can sometimes find a cheaper rate this way.
Hope this helps!
