Disney cutting an additional 125 jobs

The Orlando Sentinel reported a few days ago that Disney is cutting 125 jobs, mostly in custodial.

This is exactly the kind of story I'd normally comment on in my normal weekly updates at MiceAge (in case this is new to any of you, MiceAge is a news/rumor/commentary site that publishes weekly articles in a "webzine" format). I've resisted blogs for a long time, but there are just so many news bits - like the custodial jobs listed above - which require only small comments, and lately they've been slipping through the cracks. Hence the need for a blog that I can update multiple times a day, let alone more than once a week. MiceAge isn't going anywhere, though, and I'll continue with that too.

As for those custodial jobs: I agree with John Frost over at thedisneyblog. John points out that any outsourcing of jobs for onstage things always turns out badly. He's right. Those Photopass folks aren't bad, necessarily, but a little bit of the magic Disney spark is gone if Disney hasn't... well... inculcated and brainwashed these people themselves.
