Driving a Rental Car into Mexico-- is it allowed?

I need to rent a mini-van in the Evansville, IN area for a 10 day trip into Mexico for a wedding.

What rental company could I get a van from that will allow a trip of approx 4-500 miles ino Mexico?

Also, will additional drivers be allowed while we're in Mexico?

I checked and could not find any company in Indiana that would allow travel into Mexico with one of their vehicles. Travel into Mexico with a rental car is generally only permitted from certain companies (Budget, Hertz and Enterprise) from certain cities in Texas, Arizona and California.

You would have to check and see if there is a company in Evansville that would allow you to take a minivan to one of their locations that allow Mexico travel (whichever state you plan to cross the border from), and see if they would allow you to leave your rental on their lot, while you take a seperate rental into Mexico, and then pick up your original vehicle when you return from Mexico to take back to Indiana. You should check with Budget, Hertz or Enterprise directly about this. It isn't something that you could set up online. You should call the local location that you wish to rent from and ask to speak with a manager. (If you find a rental car company that can fufill your Mexico travel request, check with them for the additional driver policy while in Mexico.

Hope this helps and good luck!
