Hotels for Ski Holidays in the New Year

AppId is over the quota

The great British winter can be a wearing time; the days are short and the light fades fast, and it can be difficult to drum up enough energy to cope with the cold weather. If you're looking for hotels where you can find respite from the elements, why not look a little further afield and investigate a different kind of winter with a ski holidays. The January sales are bursting with cheap hotels and you'll be on the slopes in no time at all!

One of the biggest ski resorts around, Val d'Isere has an incredible selection of hotel rooms to choose from, which is fortunate given that the resort's 1,800 residents tend to be outnumbered by at least fifteen to one during the winter months. A prime spot for skiers and snowboarders of any level of skill, Val d'Isere and neighbouring Tignes also boast some of Europe's best options for apres-ski. Whether you choose to stay in a chalet or in hotels, you'll find a lively scene waiting for you no matter what time you come off the slopes. A large and well-known ski hub, this is the perfect place either to learn to ski, or to hone those skills.

If the budget is the biggest consideration and you want to find the best in cheap hotels and ski holidays then head out somewhere a little different; Jasna in Slovakia lies in the Low Tatras National Park and is an up and coming area for skiing. Having developed considerably over the past few years you will find plenty of reasonable hotel rooms on offer as well as some fantastic snow. One of the ski industry's unsung heroes, Jasna's mountains stand proud at 2,024 metres high and boasts five free ride areas for those who are more comfortable on the slopes. Enjoying guaranteed snow for at least five months of every year, this is a great place to spend a week skiing!

Regardless of whether you go for a well-known ski resort such as Val d'Isere or a hidden gem such as Jasna, there are some things to look out for when you're booking hotels. First of all, check the proximity to the slopes and if the cheap hotels are a little further away from the snow then remember to check out whether there are shuttle services available or not. Secondly, be sure to check which of the hotels sell packages that incorporate equipment hire and lift passes. And finally, don't forget to double check whether your hotel rooms have an en suite bathroom - after a long, cold day on the slopes you won't fancy a long queue to jump in a hot shower!

If you're looking for something fun to take your mind off the weather in the New Year, a ski holiday is a great place to start; there will be plenty of hotels offering great deals on everything from ski hire right through to hotel rooms.
