There’s nothing worse than holidaying somewhere and not being able to get around whilst you are there. Public transport in and around Newmarket is generally good but if you really want to make the most of your holiday and see the surrounding beauty of the fens you should thing about hiring a car.
Thankfully car hire in Newmarket is relatively straightforward. There is only one hire company in the immediate area and they have been providing the local community and tourists alike with quality car hire for over 30 years.
Newmarket Car and Van Hire is situated on the outskirts of town towards the village of Exning. They have a good range of cars ranging from nippy city cars to large Bedford vans if you are planning a longer trip or relocating. They offer a friendly and efficient service and will be more than happy ot advise you if you are not sure what you need.
Once you have sorted out your car hire in Newmarket there are a number of places you can visit. The historic city of Cambridge is just 20 mins down the A14. Or you can go the opposite way and head to the coast towards Hunstanton. Going this way you could do a stop off at beautiful Bury St Edmunds and visit the cathedral which is about 15 minutes down the A14 in the opposite direction to Cambridge.
Alternatively you can simply meander around many of the winding country roads and enjoy a pub lunch in one of the fantastic village pubs surrounding Newmarket, such as the Three Blackbirds in Fen Ditton.
Don’t forget that in the UK we drive on the left hand side and we would generally recommend keeping your drivers license on you at all times. Car crime is rare compared to the inner cities but we would still advise that you keep valuables locked in the boot and out of sight as opportunist thieves do operate, particularly at some of the larger tourist attractions.
