You have probably been wanting to visit the Big Apple for a while now but budget constraints have always set you back. Now that you have a budget in mind you are still unsure if you should go to New York, well this guide should help you decide if you have enough money to enjoy a cheap trip to New York. We will look at various things which you can accomplish in New York despite your somewhat limited budget and we will also look at free activities you can engage in and keep your family engaged in when you visit New York.

Get a cheap ticket

The key to a cheap trip to New York is to find some way to travel very cheap. There are two major options when you opt to visit New York one is the conventional option i.e. you can catch a flight to New York or you can get a bus. In addition to these two options another option if you are near is to drive to New York. The plane option is by far the most expensive and even if you book your tickets in advance you still end up paying a lot more than if you probably drove your own car or got a bus ticket to New York. But if you are coming from abroad you can get a cheap flight London New York. Probably this is one reason why so many domestic travelers on a budget opt to drive themselves which allows for them to spend some quality time with their family as well as save money on the trip.

Cheap activities

New York may be famous for Broadway, Times Square and the Hudson the truth is that you do not have to spend tons of cash to enjoy these locations. If anything you will find that New York is like every other American city i.e. it can be cheap and expensive at the same time and so it depends on what you chose as part of your holiday package. If you decide to dine at the Hilton or get a room there you will obviously spend more if you just checked into a conventionally small bread and breakfast joint in New York. The food and lodging there would be cheap.

Some cheap activities in New York include a bicycle tour, a ride to New Jersey via a ferry, etc. In addition the zoo, and central park are two big attractions if you've got kids. New York is also famous for its Art gallery as well as the Museum which should keep your kids occupied for quite some time. So if you really look at it living for a few days in New York is not necessarily expensive and it really depends on what you chose to do. For instance a show on Broadway can cost upwards of $100 a ticket which is fine if you included it as part of your budget.
