The Many Wonders of Maine

AppId is over the quota

I don't know many people who favor the natural loveliness of Maine over those vacation spots in the southern coasts. But for those who do, I am quite certain that they found paradise in Maine. The beauty I saw there have surpassed the other places I've been to, and I have gone to many vacation destinations. The entire vacation in Bar Harbor and the Acadia National Park made me feel like the whole week was a journey to another world. Even when the vacation rental cottage in Bar Harbor was perfectly a home away from home, I could not stay each day when the sun was already up. There were so many places to explore and I didn't want to miss a glorious moment. My best memories were in Acadia and Bar Harbor, and I will tell you why.
Acadia National Park, a big part of the Mount Desert Island, is no desert at all. What I saw was a vast area of lovely thick forests and meadows with colorful plants that look like splashes of paint on canvas. I found awe-inspiring mountains and cliffs, valleys and lakes that seem to be placed there by unseen hands. Most of all, the sea and the many sand and cobblestone beaches call out to me and, I believe the others, too. For in their untamed vastness, one can see beauty so pure and natural. Those who profess themselves to be adventurers and nature lovers could hardly resist the call of Acadia National Park. My first visit to Acadia was three years ago in the fall, and I can still remember how the foliage and the shrub looked like, bursting in color and almost flame-like in appearance.
My friends and I joined ranger-led programs to learn more about the park's purposes and history. The talks and slides focused on the plants and birds that thrive in the area and the geological characteristics of the park. We wanted to go for hikes but couldn't go off wandering on our own, so a ranger showed us the different trails and led us to our preferred route. I noticed that there was an ongoing program also made for children to learn more about the park and its preservation. The trails went on for miles and miles and each climb and turn showed a different view, equally, if not more breathtaking than the last one. The park is open to those who wanted to go scenic biking or driving as there are trails and routes designed for each respective activity. The last time I have been on vacation in Maine was in the summer so we were able to go swimming on the lake and we also hit the Sand Beach.
On the gulf of Maine, particularly the Bar Harbor and beyond, I was able to find a variety of animal life as I sat aboard a cruising vessel and when we visited the National Wildlife Refuge. There were Minke and humpback whales, dolphins, seals and porpoises. There were many offshore birds, eagles and North Atlantic Puffins that I saw for the very first time. I was amazed to see a number of lighthouses and they looked so magnificent, particularly the picture-perfect lighthouse in Petit Manan. Baker Island, Frenchman Bay and Porcupine Islands are some of the wonderful wildlife habitat I have discovered aboard a touring vessel in Bar Harbor.
The places I have so fondly written about are some of the reasons why Maine, to me is the ideal vacation spot. The vacation rental cottage my friends and I stayed in was the best, too. You rarely find accommodations that are so affordable, yet very comfortable. The convenient location allowed us to walk to some nice shops and parks as well as the scenic coast. However we had some privacy, too. For the nights in Maine, we had time well spent in the spacious and comfortable cottage. And that homey detail added to my recent but definitely not the last wonderful vacation in Maine.
