When people think of safari holidays they perhaps imagine a 4x4 travelling through the dense bush in search of Africa's iconic wildlife and remote wilderness. Today the popularity of a safari holiday continues to grow, and because of this more and more safari types are being created and introduced to cater for an ever growing community of passionate travellers.

The new safaris take their influence from a wide range of sources, such as traditional methods of navigating the bush, advances in technological improvements in the safari parks infrastructure and creative methods of considering the safari experience.

Mobile safaris are comparable to a guided safari but with a distinctive twist. Rather than being based in one or a multiple fixed lodges, your accommodation is packed up by your camp staff whom accompany you throughout your trip. This provides you with a unique experience to get into the heart of the African bush which allows for a level of intimacy which other safaris cannot provide. The concept of camping may not be to everyone's taste; however the camp sites on offer on a safari holiday are unlike any other camp site you've ever been on. Mobile communities are incredibly luxurious and offer such amenities as a shower, communal areas, double beds (not camp beds), bars, dining rooms and all other amenities that one may wish to secure a comfortable stay.

A guided safari is the most common format of safari where visitors are accompanied by a vastly experienced tour guide who will escort you around a variety of national parks. The obvious benefits of a guided safari are evident; they have a vast knowledge of the area leading tourists to the best spots for wildlife and game spotting.

A balloon safari is by far the most luxurious and relaxing ways to enjoy an African safari holiday. Balloon safaris offer an unprecedented opportunity to view game from a bird's eye view. It is truly a spectacular experience, floating silently over vast plains is most certainly one of life's most memorable and thrilling experiences.

For those who are looking for a completely different safari experience, then why not choose a primate safari in Uganda or Rwanda? In contrast to other African holiday destinations, Uganda is a very fertile land and is covered in dense forest and waterways. Tracking chimpanzees is like no other experience on earth, once you have tracked down these gracious creatures you will be blow away by their beauty and humbled in their presence.

There are numerous safari parks in Africa which offer incredible river safaris. This experience is totally different and is often more relaxing than other types of safari. It can be an unbelievable thrill to float right up close to a herd of elephants drinking and playing in the river or being arm's length from a crocodile.
