Madrid is the capital city of Spain and is also termed as one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Europe. Madrid City is well known for its natural beauty and scenery. It is located at a distance of about 300 km from the sea and due to its location it experiences extreme weather conditions. You will find the city quite hot in summers and freezing cold during winters. Madrid has now become modernized where you will find well built and maintained streets and building. You can enjoy the pleasant view of medieval buildings, many shops and bars all over the city. One of the most famous attractions there is the eighteenth-century Bourbon square. Ideal time to travel to Spain is during the early summer and spring. There are a number of different hotels, villas and resorts all over the Madrid city. Puerta Del Sol is one of the busiest places in the city as well and is also considered the heart of Madrid City. It is considered as the hub for the local transit system, or you can say it is a favorite meeting spot for locals. Statue of King Charles II on horseback is found at the center of the plaza which faces Royal Post Office. The post office is red and whitebuilding adorned with a clock tower on the plaza's south. Currently this building is the office of the President of Madrid, the head of the regional government.

Another place to visit is Plaza Mayor which is the impressive square and one of the famous destinations for tourist. It is located outside the city walls and the major attractions there include bullfights, markets, symphonies and various tournaments. There are a number of shops, cafes and restaurants to serve the tourists. You will find statue of Philip III that is located in the middle and across which is the Casade la Panaderia. It is a beautifully painted building with two towers, one is on the north side of the square which was the headquarters of the bakers' guild but now it houses a tourist information office. Mercado de San Miguel located near Plaza Mayor is a place where you can enjoy a wide variety of delicious food. The Palacio Real is the official residence of the King of Spain but the royal family does not actually reside here. This Palace is used only for state ceremonies. It is not only located in one of the best places of city but it is also famous for its beautiful design and architecture. Taking pictures of the palace is not allowed. Other famous locations in the city include Plaza de Espana, Gran Via, Plaza de Cibelesand Plaza de Castilla.
