Important Monuments in Phoenix

Phoenix has a varied and long history, uniquely formed both basically and by man. Its desertscapes evoke sensations of spirituality, while its buildings remind residents and visitors that Phoenix has had an extensive history, touched by war and human development, leaving their indelible marks on monuments across the Phoenix.

Historic Heritage Square

If you happen to be a a history enthusiast, visiting the "Historic Heritage Square" in Phoenix will be right up your alley. This historic district shows what the city of Phoenix was like in its past boasting Victorian style buildings originally built in the 1800s. Shopping and dining is a major hit on the square, especially so in the evenings when diners can watch the setting sun while experiencing the culinary offers of Phoenix diners.

Papago Park

Papago Park became a local monument in 1914. This was the POW camp for German captures. As stated before, if you adore history then the Phoenix monuments will give you just that. Visit the park to learn more of how President Wilson played a part and what has happened to the soldiers that were kept there. Papago Park is also well known for its distinctive sandstone formations. The park also contains the Zoo, a botanical garden, stadium, plus the pyramidal crypt of Arizona's first governor, George W.P. Hunt and more. Papago Park is a very important cultural center in the city of Phoenix.

Arizona Biltmore

Called the "Jewel of the Desert", the Arizona Biltmore was built in 1929 and is still running strong. Today it is apart of the Hilton Collection as one of the best hotels in Phoenix. Designed by designer Albert Chase McArthur, it has since it was created gone through several hands and phases, but has persevered as a Phoenix staple. The Biltmore today, as in the past, is known for quality and luxury. The design reminds guests of a bygone era of luxury and class that iptomizes the hotel and resort experience, where travelers and guests are treated like VIPs.

St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church

St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church is located in the center of Phoenix on North Central Avenue. Catholicism is widely practiced in Phoenix and many local followers attend the St Francis Xavier Catholic Church. This church is one of the most known Phoenix religious landmarks, orginally opening in 1959. The church is at present undergoing renovations anticipating their new church. This church school will include a gym,, cafeteria and class rooms.
