Jim Henson exhibit comes to Orange County Regional History Center

The Orange County Regional History Center is hosting a traveling exhibit featuring the work of Jim Henson (1936 – 1990)—the artist, puppeteer and film director best known for creating the Muppets. Jim Henson’s Fantastic World runs February 6 – May 3, 2009.

According to the Orange County Regional History Center Web site, “Jim Henson's Fantastic World explores Henson's "visual thinking" through more than 100 works of art, photographs, documents, puppets, movie props, and other 3-D objects, as well as original video productions, including excerpts from his early career and experimental films.”

Sesame Street—probably Henson’s most famous creation—celebrates its 40th anniversary later this year. Jim Henson’s Fantastic World will include an inside look at Sesame Street as well as Henson’s other shows, Fraggle Rock, and The Muppet Show, as well as other elaborate imaginary worlds created by Henson.
